Minutes - May 5, 2010

The meeting was opened at the flying field by President Ken Simmons at 1930.
Approval of the April 7, 2010 Minutes as e-mailed to the membership was motioned by Dave C. and 2nd by Scott P. The motion carried.

Treasurer's Report: Bob A.

  1. Balance in the account, $2422.58.
  2. It was reported that $45 was received from the Fun Fly event. Dave C. reported the old lawn mower was sold for $800 which ment that we had a net gain of $200 with the purchase of the new one.
A motion was made by Scott P. and 2nd by Randy C. to accept the Treasurer's Report. The motion carried.

Old Business:
  1. Committee Report:
    1. Safety - Jerry H. Jr. - No incidents reported.
    2. Lawn Care - Dave C. - It was decided that the "Water Day" to charge the system and repair sprinklers will be May 15. An estimated cost to repair the mower tranny is $300. A motion to repair it was made by Dave C. and 2nd by Earl D. The motion carried.
    3. Gopher Control - Bob M. - Some gopher activity has been noticed.
  2. Flight Simulator Status: David M. and Chet Carpenter.
  3. Road Work - David C. - The work is done. It looks good with a good crown and drain curbs. Estimated cost was $700, actual cost $200. We will drive on it for a while to see if additional work is needed to be done.
  4. Fun Fly - April 24 - Richard P. - Richard was not at the meeting, but it was reported that all had a good time in spite of the wind challenge. The results were:

  5. Field Clean Up Day - April 10 - many members showed up to help. The shed was cleaned out, new shelves installed, Earl D. cut out a lot of old trees, weeds were burned along the parking field fence, other weeds sprayed and trash picked up and hauled away. The whole flying field looks great. Many thanks to those who helped.

New Business:
  1. Combat Meet - May 8 - Ken S. - On as scheduled.
  2. Pylon Races - May 29 - Jerry H. Jr - On as scheduled. Registration 9AM - Start 10 Am. Three classes of planes to fly. The race will be conducted like in the gym. Two planes racing at a time. Double elimination, which means you have to lose twice to be eliminated. Awards will be given for each class. Helpers will be needed to score the pilots and flaggers at the pylons. It looks to be an exciting day.
  3. AMA Scale Team Raffle - e-mail Ken S. for details.
  4. Other new business: Jerry J. has a water backpack sprayer for sale $25. A motion was made by Jerry H. Sr., and 2nd by Chuck S. to purchase it for the club. The motion carried.
