Minutes - February 3, 2010
The meeting was opened by President Ken Simmons at 1930.
Approval of the January 6, 2010 Minutes as e-mailed to the membership was motioned by Bob M. and 2nd by Richard P. The motion carried.
Treasure's Report: Bob A.
- Balance in the account - $2967.75.
- A question was raised regarding the pro-rate of the new Seniors Citizens club membership dues when a new member joins the club. Bob indicated that those dues would be pro-rated as the other dues are.
- It was then motioned by Richard P. that the Treasurer's Report be accepted as reported. It was 2nd by Dale C. The motion carried.
Old Business:
- Committee Report:
- Safety - Jerry Haines, Jr. - Jerry reported, there are no issues.
- Weed Control - Dave C. and Bob M. - Bob M., Dave C. and Earl D. reported that approximately $512 worth of sterilant will needed to complete control of the weeds. It will be effective for about two years. A $600 limit was set to purchase the sterilant. They said that application would be coordinated with the grading of the road. Jerry J. is working on getting the gopher gun and pellets and Bob. M. a suitable rake for about $35.
- Flight Simulator Status: Randy C. and Scott P.
- Indoor Flying at the OMS gym - Jerry H. Jr. - Jerry reported that each Saturday 15 - 20 flyers are present plus many visitors. An indoor Fun Fly is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20 - Noon. Events will include pylon races, carrier landings and take offs, obstacles courses and others. Bob M. will direct the pylon races to include the following:
- Starting procedures: All start at the same time.
- A number of Laps and Heats.
- Each plane must have a spotter for lap counting and missed pylons.
- Missed pylon: If a pylon is missed, the plane must fly around the pylon again as in sail boat races.
- Plane down: If a plane is down it will not be retrieved. If it is able to take off again from its position without assistance, it is allowed.
- No one is allowed forward of the starting line until the race is completed.
- Ken S. is to check with AMA on their thoughts about indoor flying compared to outdoor fields.
- The field electric charging station has been tabled indefinitely.
New Business:
- Ken S. reminded the members that club and AMA dues need to be paid. Ken will also be updating the membership roster to reflect dues paid.
- The gate combo and new membership cards will be issued to paid up members in April.
- The club event schedule 2010. A planning meeting was held on Jan. 9th. 18 members attended. The schedule was presented to the membership, discussed and a motion by Dave C. to accept it as written. It was 2nd by Jerry J. The motion carried.
- A President's Day Fly-In was announced in St. George, UT. for Feb 19-21.
- Other new business:
- Maintenance of the flying field landing strip. Jerry J. and others commented on needed repair of the strip. Cracks and sprinkler water damage has been noticed. Jerry J. will survey the strip damage and report on what is needed to repair it.
- Open glider fly - Bob M. mentioned the up-coming fly in Joseph, OR on July 1-5.
- A motion to adjourn was made by Richard P. and 2nd by Earl D. The motion carried.
