  4. Indoor Pylon Race - March 20th - Jerry H. Sr. - The pylon races were conducted inside the Ontario Middle School Gym. Two classes of planes were represented. Ember 2/Citabria and an Open class. There were nine entries. The races were really exciting. The planes were raced in pairs matched according to the results of the 5 lap time trials before hand. It was a double-elimination process. Each pilot had to lose twice to be eliminated. Speed was not the only factor, accurate, steady flying was. The race of the turtle and the hare was very evident. The 15 laps of each race was very much the teller of that. One race between Randy C. and Jerry H. Sr. showed Jerry Sr. behind over one lap when Randy crashed into a pylon and the turtle kept plodding along and won. Another race was especially exciting between Scott P. and Jerry Jr. In the final lap less than a plane's length between them at the finish. The results of the races were:
     Ember2/Citabria class:Open class:
    1st placeJerry H. Jr.Randy C.
    2nd placeJerry H. Sr.Scott P.
    3rd placeRandy C.Jerry H. Jr.
